According to St. Augustine Historian David Nolan, “Summer Haven is as Florida was”.
Historic homes built to face the Summer Haven River date back to the late 1800s and are some of the first beach homes in Florida.

Historical figures of the area include Gene Johnson, Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings and the Mellon family. A number of celebrities have spent time in Summer Haven and the area has inspired many artists.
Local Fisherman have used Summer Haven River for over a Century
